As Managing Director, International Affairs for Edmonton Northlands, researched and carried out discussions with Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Jamaica and California regarding the annual international feature show at Klondike Days; successfully negotiated contracts with Japan, Vietnam and California for 55,000 sq. ft. trade & cultural shows, and oversaw all aspects. As Chapter Manager for the IDRC, managed the day-to-day operations of the chapter and coordinated member participation in IDRC World Congresses. Coordinated the Chapter functions at the New York World Congress and the Seattle World Congress. In the position of Director of Operations for Economic Development Edmonton, managed the day-to-day corporate operations for the VP of Business & Technology; managed the integration of projects between departments; and managed special projects including the city's submission for the Smart Community National Committee. As management company for the first bi-annual International Winter Construction Symposium & Expo in November 2002, managed logistics, tradeshow, sponsorship, marketing, communications, administration, social events, registration, and finance. As management company of Technology for Success Trade Fair and Symposium (2001 and 2003), managed logistics, sponsorship, tradeshow, marketing, program, communications, administration, registration, and finance. As President of the Alberta World Trade Center in Edmonton, managed the operations of the organization; being responsible to the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors on budget and policy issues; managed a business centre as part of the AWTC. As Project Manager of the Scientists 2010 Program - a longitudinal study with 5 elementary schools from the Edmonton Public and Separate School Boards, coordinated all aspects on program including Board communications, marketing, event management, student membership management. As Advertising and Promotions Manager for Northlands Park, managed all event and corporate marketing campaigns and was project manager for new company name, logo and branding strategies As Regional Coordinator, assisted in setting the regional direction for, and successfully managed the mandate of, the Canadian Technology Network for northern Alberta, NWT and Nunavut. This included liaison with all three levels of government and the private sector; coordination of service delivery with other federal government programs; determining regional needs and gaps in support services. As Vice President and then President of Promo Alberta: Trade & Tourism, researched, negotiated, organized and staged two 50,000 sq. ft. exhibits of Alberta products, tourism and culture one in London, England and the second in Los Angeles, California. |
